Fishing Seasons ~ The Alpine Lodge
~Spring Fishing~

Atlantic Salmon Atlantic salmon fishing in the spring begins on the 15th of April and expires by the end of May. The spring season has been known for its lofty catch numbers! Spring fishermen can catch anywhere from 5-20 salmon in one day, and most days are quite consistent with these numbers. Coming to the Miramichi River to fly-fish for Atlantic salmon in the springtime is perhaps the best way to break your way into such an incredible River. If you are interested in Atlantic salmon spring fishing along the Miramichi River, contact Alpine Lodge today!

~Summer Fishing~

Atlantic Salmon Atlantic salmon fishing in the summer begins when the June run of bright Atlantic salmon arrives, and they always begin their journey up the Miramichi River no later than early June! This famous run of Atlantic salmon marks the beginning of the abundance of salmon that will make its way up the Mighty Miramichi River. These stunning silver beauties, which are predominantly female salmon, put up an extraordinary fight for anglers flies, and range in size from 10-25lbs.

Atlantic Salmon This fresh run of Atlantic salmon lasts for weeks, and has left many of our clients mesmerized by the amount of time it sometimes takes to land one of these rapid fighters. Landing a bright Atlantic salmon can take up to an hour based on the fact that these magnificent fish just came in from the Atlantic Ocean. If you long for the challenge of landing an Atlantic salmon, Miramichi River will give you that opportunity, and our staff at Alpine Lodge will meet all of your required needs in doing so.

Alpine Lodge has something quite remarkable to offer those fishermen that wish to come between the late May and early June! Just before the fresh run of Atlantic salmon arrives, three consecutive runs of "Sea-run Brook Trout" make their way up the Mighty Miramichi River! These Sea Trout are a fierce fighting fish ranging in size from1-8lbs, and will consistently take anglers flies during their two week journey up the Miramichi River, and many of its smaller tributaries. In addition, it is not uncommon for the fresh run of Atlantic salmon to run alongside the Sea Trout, which means many of our fishermen get to try their hand at fishing both species during this time!

Atlantic Salmon Following the fresh run of bright Atlantic salmon, a huge run of fresh grilse (Atlantic salmon under 24 inches in length) make their way up the Miramichi River. Along the Miramichi River, folks refer to this famous run of bright fish as the "July Grilse Run". This run is predominantly composed of grilse, which range in size from 3-6 lbs, and put up a tremendous battle for anglers flies. In case you were wondering, many Atlantic salmon are also hooked by anglers at this time.

By mid July, this run of Atlantic salmon and grilse has already begun. At this time the Miramichi River is protruded with a vast abundance of Atlantic salmon and grilse, and remains this way for the rest of the season. However, don't think this is where the running of "new" fish ceases! Salmon and grilse never stop journeying up the Miramichi River! The autumn (fall) run and final run of Atlantic salmon is very popular for clients that stay at Alpine Lodge as the run lasts until fishing season closes.

~Fall Fishing~

Atlantic Salmon

By the first week in September a new and enormous run of Atlantic salmon make its way up the Miramichi River to spawn, running alongside the many previous runs of Atlantic salmon! This run of fish is predominantly made up of male (cock) salmon that range in size from 3-35+lbs!! Locals refer to this run as the "Fall Run", or the "Fall Hook-bill Run" of Atlantic salmon. Fall Atlantic salmon are far different in appearance than the summer salmon as they are a little darker, having red and orange spots.

As well, the fall season offers something extremely beautiful that many other rivers lack. The Miramichi River in the fall has Atlantic salmon rolling and leaping out of the water at every given minute! This is perhaps the greatest treat for clients, as they get to see with their own eyes just how many fish are swimming up the Mighty Miramichi River during all of the fishing season.

In all of our fishing packages through Alpine Lodge, we offer full shuttle service to and from the Moncton, Fredericton, and Bathurst airports! Contact Alpine Lodge in terms of licensing, rates, accommodations, and all other desired interests.
